Poland destroy Brazil to retain the gold and to stay at the throne of the world after 4 years! What Poland did in 2014, repeated tonight by beating Brazil in the final of the World Championship, 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-23). Some sceptical people thought that Poland won the gold in 2014 because of the huge support of the fans, in fact they played at home, but four years later we are seeing Poland ruling the world again! This is the third World Championship gold in Poland’s history.

And Brazil? Simpy, Vital Heynen’s team was in the mood tonight, and played better, winning deservedly the title. Only in the first set, Brazil had some chances to stay in the race for the gold, however, in this spectacular high-level match, Poland won 28-26. In the second set, there was some ups and downs from Brazil, while Poland stabilized their level of play. After a good display in this part of the match, in which never gave up, Poland doubled the lead 2-0! At the first technical time out of the third set, Poland had an 8-3 advantage and Brazil, even if at the end of the set tried a comeback, lifted the white flag. Renan Dal Zotto tried with some substitutions, decreasing the lead of Poland and saving two match points, but Bartosz Kurek, who was also the best player of all competition, scoring 23 points. Michal Kubiak added 12 and Artur Szalpuk 10, while Wallace de Souza scored 14 on the other side.
Poland beat Brazil for the second time in a row in the final of the World Championship, while Brazil played their fifth consecutive final!
