In the first semifinal, Perugia finish the game vs. Modena in straight sets to reach the final!
No one expected this result in a clash between this two italian top team.
I believe that Modena’s fans expected much more from their team, but except a huge resistance in the second round, they couldn’t do anything to stop Perugia, which played a really fantastic match, especially in the first and the third set, when they had the complete domination.
The Serbian opposite Aleksandar Atanasijevic was the top scorer with 16 points, while Wilfredo Leon added 10. In Modena, there were no players with double digits!
Technically, both teams made a big number of serve mistakes (Perugia 22, Modena 17).

Itas Trentino – Cucine Lube Civitanova 2-3 (20:25, 25:21, 19:25, 25:15, 10:15)
Itas Trentino: Giannelli 4, Kovacevic 17, Lisinac 4, Vettori 14, Russell 14, Candellaro 9, De Angelis (L), Van Garderen 2, Grebennikov (L), Nelli 0, Codarin 4. N.E. Daldello, Cavuto. Coach. Lorenzetti.
Cucine Lube Civitanova: Mossa De Rezende 3, Juantorena 14, Simon 13, Sokolov 18, Leal 14, Cester 1, Marchisio (L), Balaso (L), D’Hulst 0, Cantagalli 0, Diamantini 3, Kovar 0. N.E. Stankovic, Massari. Coach. De Giorgi.

The second semifinal was a battle and only after five sets Lube down Trento to join Perugia in the final!
It was a great game and Trento managed to make two comebacks but in the tie-break, they didn’t have enough power to defeat the rival.
Tsvetan Sokolov was the top scorer with 18 points, and great performances also for the cuban-born players: Juantorena contributed with 14 points, like Leal, while Simon added 13.
In Trento, Uros Kovacevic scored 17, while Luca Vettori and Aaron Russell added 14 points each.
