#ChampionsLeague: Golden set decides the winner in St. Petersburg: Skra advance to the semifinals. No problem for Perugia against Chaumont.

Golden set decides the winner in St. Petersburg: Skra advance to the semifinals!
Even though the home team managed to win the match in four sets, nothing to do in the golden set: PGE Skra Belchatow took the opportunity to win this part of the game which automatically sent them to the semifinals.
Gyorgy Grozer was the most dominant player in this match with an excellent performance: 28 points for him, while Jakub Kochanowski had 18 on the other side.

The match was not easy for us. We knew that we are facing a very strong team, and Russian teams always play strong. Also, Georg Grozer did amazing things, just as in any game. I am glad that the whole team could oppose Zenit. It is true that sometimes we did not play the way we planed, we got lost in tactical things, but most importantly, we won the last set. However, we did not want it to come to that but it has happened and we will certainly enjoy this victory,“ Skra captain Mariusz Wlazły said.

Our own mistakes in the golden set decided everything. Perhaps we didn’t have enough strength and energy for the decisive set. Yes, we had serious problems with the lineup in this matchup – for example, our leader Oreol Camejo did not play in the first match – but I don’t want to look for excuses. Volleyball is a team sport,Aleksandr Klimkin, the head coach of Zenit, stated.

On the other match, no troubles for Perugia to claim the semifinal spot. Perugia are the third team that claimed the semifinal ticket, after Zenit Kazan and PGE Skra Belchatow.
This time Perugia didn’t have any difficulties against Chaumont.
After a 3-2 victory in France, Perugia ended this game in straight sets 25:21, 25:16, 25:17.
Wilfredo Leon with 16 points and Aleksandar Atanasijevic with 15 points were the best scorers in Perugia, while Julien Winkelmuller had 16 in Chaumont.
In the semifinals, Perugia will play against Zenit Kazan!

Aleksandar Atanasijevic, Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA: “It has been a great game. We played well starting from the first point scored. It is an important win; we could not miss this match. And now, we wait for the semi-finals against Zenit KAZAN.”

Silvano Prandi, coach of CHAUMONT VB 52 HM: “Everything was missing tonight, starting Volleyball itself. What we have seen tonight was the superiority of PERUGIA compared to us.”
