IBB Polonia London regained the English Volleyball Championship title after a one-season break.
IBB Polonia London crowned an amazing season in the 2018/19 Super League by lifting the trophy at the end of the match of the last round against Sheffield Hallam that was held this Sunday (3-1).
A trophy that they mathematically earned two weeks in advance. The team from the English capital claimed its sixth championship title in the club history and did it after a season in which they did not suffer a single defeat, with a record of 24-0.
IBB Polonia became “popular” about one month and a half ago, when they manage to persuade legendary Brazilian player Gilberto Filho „Giba“ (one-time Olympic, three-time FIVB World Championship and eight-time FIVB World League winner) to return to playing professional volleyball after five years of inactivity.
A curiosity: the last season’s winners, Team Northumbria, did not even participate in the 2018/19 english Super League due to budget cuts of the Northumbria University.
