Poland Player Marcin Komenda on winning bronze with a young team: “Wonderful dream because before the tournament everyone was thinking we would win fifth or sixth place. Winning the bronze medal is amazing.”
Poland Player Bartosz Bednorz: “We are so happy because before this tournament a lot of people were thinking we would immediately lose two matches and go home. We have a really strong team here, and maybe we are not in the top 14 (players on the Poland national team) but we showed that we are really strong, have a big heart. I am so happy we have a bronze medal.”
Poland Player Bartosz Bednorz on what was the difference in today’s match: “I think our character and big heart on the court.”
Brazil Captain Bruno Rezende: “Who wanted it more won. Poland played well and they wanted it more than us. That is a shame for our team. We have respect this jersey of Brazil. We are not No. 1 in the world because of the ranking and your shirt is yellow or we won a lot. The spirit we put on the court tonight was disappointing that this something we need to fix. We have to play with more intensity. I think we can take some lessons from this VNL. All team, even more teams who are more powerful like Russia and Poland, they are playing with more intensity. That is something that we can improve and we have to improve for the future.”
